THE ELECTRIC OWL HOSTS CREATIVITY HEALS 2012: AFRICA

Creativity Heals presents “CAP/AIDS Relief Showcase” an event bringing together talented individuals to provide relief and support to those affected by AIDS in Uganda.

Creativity Heals is originally a Los Angeles based organization founded by Matt Kessinger, Charleen Dere Meyer and Jennifer Kita, a collective of artists that believe all forms of art can be healing. The organization is aimed at raising money and awareness for charitable causes locally and worldwide. Inspired by the success of the team in Los Angeles, local artists and entrepreneurs Adi Baybay, Bahar Taheri and Sophia Mach took on the leadership role for Creativity Heals Canada.

The event will consist of musical performances, many amazing raffle items and door prizes. All of the proceeds from this event will go to CAP/AIDS (Canada Africa Partnership on AIDS).  We are very excited to raise money this year with the goal of $10,000 to donate to CAP/AIDS to help vulnerable AIDS-orphaned youth to overcome the cycle of poverty that too often results from losing parents to HIV&AIDS. Through this project, CAP/AIDS is working with local community partners to coordinate delivery of vocation skills training and employment support for AIDS-orphaned youth and is also providing self-employment skills, development training and start-up capital for new youth-driven businesses. Together we are helping AIDS-orphans to develop sustainable livelihoods and build a brighter future for their families.

The HIV & AIDS pandemic in Africa is truly one of the most disastrous crises facing humanity today. With more than 33 million people already living with HIV & AIDS and more than 11 million children who have already lost parents to HIV & AIDS, this disease is devastating families, communities and entire economies.
